We cordially invite you to attend the opening ceremony of "Negative Space Diaries" on Friday, October 24th, at 12:00 PM, hosted at the Art Space, Zhixing Building, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Yangming Campus. Artist Anna Yun-Ching Han will be present at the event. Please join us to celebrate this exhibition. Refreshments and beverages will be provided, and the artist will also be preparing some of the food on-site for all participants. ◆ Exhibition Introduction

A spatial exploration triggered by a fall.

On February 27th, 2024, I fainted at a metro station. When I regained consciousness, I saw people staring at me, but I couldn’t get up, as though someone beneath me was pulling me down, urging me to stay on the ground.

After that fall, it took some time for my mind and body to recover. I began to wonder: when a person falls, do their souls scatter, falling into the "space" beneath the ground? Does one need to gather them piece by piece in order to continue living in this world?

To retrieve my lost souls, I tried to understand this "space," looking downward to observe the spirits trapped below due to the fall. This exhibition is a record of my attempts to nurture these images and accumulate the strength to rise again, which I call Negative Space Diaries.

Anna Yun-Ching Han received her MFA in Photography from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, in 2011, and currently lives in Taipei as a practitioner, educator, and translator. Anna’s photographic work is deeply rooted in emotion, expressed through storytelling and self-portraiture, and printed using 19th-century historical processes. She believes that creating from one’s essence is like embarking on an unknown journey, where we can feel the various inspirations and meanings of life.
