NYCU 2024 3MT Competition

What’s 3MT?

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ). PhD students have three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance. 3MT challenges students to consolidate their ideas and research discoveries so they can be presented concisely to a non-specialist audience.

Developed by The University of Queensland (UQ) in 2008, enthusiasm for the 3MT concept has developed rapidly and 3MT competitions are now held in over 900 universities and institutions across 85 countries worldwide.

National Chiao Tung University was authorized to host 3MT starting in 2019. After the merger with National Yang Ming University, the Language Teaching and Research Center of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University obtained re-authorization to continue holding this competition. We invite experts and scholars from industry and academia to serve as judges for the finals, and also provide training lectures for our students prior to the competition. This is so that graduate students can combine academic research (hard skills) with language communication (soft skills) to enhance international competitiveness.
