When you think of refugees, whose faces come to your mind? Which countries or regions do you think of?

Why do these countries have refugees, and what is the situation of refugees? How do governments of different countries handle the refugee issue? And what are the resulting phenomena and coping strategies in the countries and societies that receive refugees?

This lecture invites the founder of the non-profit organization "Refugee Path",  CHU Hsiao-Chi, who has years of experience in refugee research and advocacy in the Middle East. She will share her understanding of the refugee phenomenon and context and attempt to lead us in thinking together: What can we do for people far away?

CHU Hsiao-Chi, is an interdisciplinary practitioner devoted to social change, humanitarian action and development. In addition, she has integrated her professional skills across art/culture, education, migration/refugee and development studies into my working methodology. Since 2009, she has led multiple community-based engagement programs and participatory action research (PAR) in Taiwan, Mongolia, Jordan, Palestine, Israel, and Cambodia, especially with expertise in development, migration/refugee and PTSD issues. Additionally, since 2015, she has written several books, including The Legacy of Wolves and Deers in Mongolia (2015), Walking in Israel and Palestine (2018) and The Forgotten Refugee Heritage in Palestine (published in 2023).
